The Body:
We were born into a woman's body in August of 1971, in New Jersey, USA. We are not sure at what point we had "become" plural, but since there is no point of our life that we can recall, as a "singlet", we find it to be a moot point. We have been a "we" since at least our 3rd birthday, of this physical - lifetime.
We have a pretty even distribution of genders in-house and 3D, with most of our front-folks identifying as women (save Jules), and most of our men, MTFs, FTMs, and non-gendered folks remaining in-house most of the time, due to the societal and physical inconveniences of their fronting the body.
Our body has a mild case of CMT (Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease), and a benign brain tumor in the amygdalus/hippocampal region of our left hemisphere. This tumor appears to be a lump of scar tissue, from a "rip" near our brain-stem that is the result of being shaken as an infant...
Because of this injury we've had a seizure disorder all of our lives. We're on meds for the past 3 years, and it has kept our seizures under control.. There is an operation we can get (called, terrfyingly enough an "amygdalo-hippocampectomy") but the brain damage that would result from the operation is uncertain (could be minimal, or it could turn us into a collective slow-wit &/or cut us off from each other (yikes) for the rest of our lives)...
So for now, we are just sticking to the meds, and taking care of ourselves via the alt-med route: yoga, exercise and supplements...
NOTE ABOUT SEIZURES: each of us, in-house, seems to experience the seizures in a different way, with a few of us having more seizures than the others. There are also differences as to which *kinds* of seizures we have: i.e. Eve does not have grand-mals but she has many more seizures than the rest of us.
Julia and J seem to be the only of the Qílóra who are not epileptic.
